Link Building Help From An Expert
Posted on May 27th, 2010 View CommentsNowadays, we have millions of sites that cover every topic known to man. Of course, everyone doesn’t get the traffic that they expect. This is because it takes more than just a website on the net to get visitors to it.
One way of getting traffic is through SEO link building, which is done when you search for sites within your topic and place one of your URL’s on that site so it leads back to your own.
Many webmasters have been successful at link building but more have failed. How can you be in the group who sees success from their link building? When building links the only thing to worry about is if you are giving the search engines what they want. Using list building techniques that the search engines don’t condone is not the fastest way to get on the first page but it is the fastest way to get your site snatched out of the listings and having to start from scratch.
Powerful backlinking is easier than most people believe it to be, your only job is to include your URL to relevant and reputable site at a slow and steady speed and keep doing it. Fast paced link building is a surefire way to lose in the end. The following mistakes can lead you down the wrong path so stay away from the at all costs.
One of the most frustrating things about building links to your website is that it takes a very long time to see results. One example of my recent blog ranking work comes to mind regarding how long I had to wait to see results.Recently I have been working on trying to get my website ranking for the keyword online game rentals. This process certainly has not been very smooth sailing. I am positive I will eventually succeed in my efforts, although I have had doubts along the way. Even though you will no doubt get discouraged, please don’t give up. Your work will be rewarded.
An easy way to throw away your time is to find a relevant site and then use anchor text that has nothing to do with your keywords. The high PR of a site along with good content will definitely give you a good backlink, but when the anchor text is something like “Buy Now!” or “Learn More!” – it’s of no use at all. Now you know, for better backlinking results select keywords that you wish to rank for and use those as your anchor text. This one technique can make each backlink more powerful.
Furthermore, you should never link to any sites that has a bad reputation because it will carry over to your site.
When Google sees these links on your site they automatically assume that you are endorsing them and whatever they are doing that gave them a bad reputation. This should be reason enough to inspect any links that appear on your site.
No matter what happens, or no matter what kind of offer comes your way, don’t go for linking to a site that has a bad reputation as it will bring you in the bad books of search engines and is definitely not a good thing on the long run.
Don’t make the mistake of hurrying up with your link building, because you might miss on the important details such as focusing on the anchor text.
Also, text links with anchor text carry more weight than image links. Image links work good for bringing in traffic but for SEO they don’t work as well as text links with keyword anchor text.
Losing out to your competitors can be as simple as using the wrong backlinking methods. For your own good, don’t be like the thousands of webmasters who make these same link building mistakes day-in and day out.
