  • 7 Steps To On Page Search Engine Optimization

Posted on January 29th, 2012 janakmehta View Comments

SEOThere are easily several things which can be done to optimize the page for search engine crawling and indexing.  These are the seven steps which you should take to maximize the potential for any page in situation:

Step One, Keywords and Keyword Phrases -   The main thing to remember about search engines is that they use keywords and phrases to find relevant data.  Choosing the most relevant keywords (as well as related keywords) for your page not only makes it better for searchers to find your page but it helps to get it shared as well.

Step Two, Title Tags - Title tags are used by search engines to name the site on the listing.  It is important to make the title tag descriptive and keyword efficient.  The search engine and the visitor will then be able to understand what the page is about.

Step Three, H1-H2 Tags – The header tags help the search engine understand what is important in the page contents.  An article that uses an H1 tag tells the search engine to pay more attention to the title of the content.  H2 tags work similarly and are for sub-headers (because you should only have one H1 on the page).

Step Four, Keyword Density – The percentage of the amount of times the keyword is shown in the article is in relation to the rest of the content is also important.  Using the keyword for on page optimization should be within 3-8% of the total content’s words for only a couple of keywords so you are not stuffing the article with keywords.

Step Five, Keyword Placement - Placing the keywords in the correct location is a key factor.  The use of the keyword as early in the content as possible such as in the first sentence within the first paragraph as well as in the last sentence of the last paragraph is recommended.  Sprinkling the keyword into each paragraph 2-4 times is also better for higher densities.

Step Six, Description – The description should be formed in a way to target the visitor and let them know why they should visit the site.  Simple and to the point descriptions are better than long and drawn out ones.

Step Seven, Image Optimization - Finally, the last step is to optimize the images used.  Image file names should contain the keyword for the content as well as all HTML tags for the image alternative text.  This helps search engines index the images for image searches as well.

  • Keyword Research: How To Get Found With Targeted Keywords

Posted on May 10th, 2011 janakmehta View Comments

    keyword

Keyword research is key to online marketing success. It will help you identify what your target market is searching for in the search engines.

there are lots of keyword research tools. My favorite is market samurai and Google’s keyword research tool.

There are several ways to use the target keywords to help your website get found by your target prospects. I’m going to talk about 3 ways to use keywords for search engine optimization.

    1. Use keywords on your website: Your website needs to have relevant information that your target prospects are searching for.  You can use keywords in Title tag, Meta tags, H tags and within the body of  every page on your website.
This keywords must match with what users are looking for your website to show up on search engine results page. But that’s not alone. You also need links to your website.

    2. Leveraging real time search for website listing and backlink creation: The process involves creating or using an existing social media account that gets listed on Google instantaneously.  One of the best option is to use Twitter, since Google shows twitter feed as part of results page.  On the Twitter account, the user needs to tweet a link to the website as well as the keywords that they wish to target.  A great way to shorten long links is to use Google’s own URL shortening service (http://goo.gl/).

    3. Use Keywords in web address: Having exact match keyword url would be a great start for search engine optimization. Google used to give a lot of weight to exact match url; not any longer. So, don’t fret over it if you can’t get an exact match URL with your target keywords.

You may want to consider adding suffix and/or prefix to your target keyword and try to get URL closely matching your target keyword. Example: for target keyword “gardening” you can choose gardeningnow.com or gogardening.com
    as potential URL

The big thing with keyword research is finding the keywords that are searched often but with low competition.  Everyone will be using the most common keywords when trying to get found.  Unfortunately the high amount of competition for those keywords makes it very difficult to rank and be found in organic searches.

Finding keywords that gets at least 5000 searches per month with less than 80,000 competing pages would be a good keyword to dominate.

How do you do keyword research. Please continue conversation below.

  • Distinctive Tips to Write SEO Powered Blog Posts

Posted on November 22nd, 2010 janakmehta View Comments

Driving targeted, relevant traffic to your blog should be one of your main aims as a blogger. You aren’t writing blog posts only for yourself, you want the public to read them and comment on them. Search engine optimization is one of the most important ways to get more targeted visitors to your blog. It allows you to start ranking highly for your chosen keywords in your blog posts, which brings you traffic. The following 3 factors should be kept in mind when you blog, as these will help your SEO efforts.

If you are a existing blogger, then you are aware that you have the capability to tag your posts. Use the tag option often because the search engine spiders use them to find relevant material. Find about 5 to 10 tags for your post and add them to your post. How do you find these tags? Put yourself into your reader’s place. If you were searching for something related to the topic you’re writing, what would you type and search in the search engines? Use these keywords and incorporate them in your article posts. Remember that there is more to these tabs than just being tag. They will help your posts look organized and at the same time help the search engines when they are trying to find relevant information. It does not take a long time to write a list of tags, but be certain that you don’t put too many on your post because it will negatively affect your rank.

What the search engines really want to see with blog posts is good content, and this is really the main part of SEO. It’s very important to write posts that are easy on the eyes and make people want to read them. A good way to do this is to write your post as a list of things such as tips, mistakes, steps, myths, etc. You’ll find it easier to write such posts, and readers will find them very readable. You don’t always have to use lists, and it’s fine to write in paragraphs as long as they are short, which is much easier on the eyes than long paragraphs.

Last, make sure that you are using the right categories for your blog posts and also are using the right keywords. These categories have to be picked according to your written content and should help the search engines crawl your blog better. This is one area that many bloggers often skip, but it can most definitely help your search engine rankings if you do it correctly.

In conclusion, the techniques we’ve covered here can help you to optimize all of your blog posts. This is the way to get better rankings and more visitors to your blog. When you’re starting out, it can take a little time to learn all of this, but you can catch on quickly if you apply yourself.

  • How You Can Drive Traffic with Forum Marketing

Posted on November 21st, 2010 janakmehta View Comments

New marketing channels for services and products have been made available by the Internet.

The internet can be used by anyone to promote and sell their products. However, to do this, you have to realize that it is highly important for you to employ the correct promotional technique. There are some who prefer article marketing while others go with search engine optimization. The level of dedication and effort you put in as well as the type of marketing techniques you choose are completely in your hands. We will be studying the use of forums for marketing and traffic generation purposes in this article. Given below are 3 simple tips to help you out with your forum marketing.

Ensure that you are speaking to the correct target market in your forum marketing. There are hundreds of thousands of forums online covering every topic you can imagine. If you sign up to any forum in an effort to promote your products or services, with little regard in terms of the niche, your results will be disappointing. It doesn’t make sense to go out there and market to an audience that isn’t interested in what you’re offering. This is why it is imperative to choose relevant forums in your niche that are used by the type of audience you need. The problem is that many forum marketers who are just starting out believe that all they need to get great conversions is a large, popular forum. However, they forget the fact that by marketing to the wrong people they are simply wasting their time as results will fail to appear. Forum marketing should be treated just like any other type of marketing where one focuses on the market they are targeting. Even if there are few forums relevant to your niche, you should focus on those with a higher level of popularity but ensure you aren’t overlooking this rule.

The second important tip for forum marketing is to be honest and open about who you are and what it is you do. People want to interact with someone they can put a face and name to so transparency here is important. Anonymous is not the way to go, don’t make this mistake. Make sure you let the other forum members know about you. Complete your profile entirely by including all of the necessary information, a picture of you and a link to your blog or site. The whole point of forum marketing is to make sales and boost your own profits. There are not many people who will deal with a person who remains anonymous. Besides that, the Internet has gone very social these days, which means it’s no longer an unsafe place when dealing with others, especially when you’re on forums.

Before you even consider starting forum marketing, you need to make up your mind as to what will be your approach and how you’d want to present yourself in front of the other members. Be sure you are not being hasty in your decision making or anything else for that matter. Your profile is important for others to see an attractive page so take your time making it and letting others know that you are there for contact creation and networking just to start off.

You should always try to use your targeted keywords in the post titles. With the right optimized keyword post titles you will attract the attention of the search engine spiders that control indexing and ranking of various sites and forums on the internet for search clicks. Obviously this helps drive traffic to your site directly from search engines increasing the number of visitors on you page. It’s like putting in the extra effort or going the extra mile.

Overall, forum marketing has been effective for many people but it requires a lot of consistent effort and persistence if you want to be able to leverage it properly. Don’t give up if you don’t see results right away as it simply means you will have to work a little more.

  • What Is Affiliate Marketing

Posted on October 1st, 2010 janakmehta View Comments

So what exactly is affiliate marketing? Simply put, affiliate marketing is a process by which you market someone else’s product for a fee. You can receive this fee based either on an action, a lead or making a sale. Many million dollar businesses have been built through affiliate marketing by internet marketers who started out with nothing. From Amazon.com to small businesses operating out of someone home, virtually everyone is involved in affiliate marketing in one way or another. You can increase your online earnings with the affiliate marketing.

You need to have following components to be successful

Content : When you create an affiliate website, it’s important to focus on the content, to make sure it’s high quality. No matter the site you are building, whether it’s goal is to offer content, reviews or something else, the key to success lies in offering interesting and compelling content that will help your readers. There is a lot of information online but if you are able to provide quality information that no one else is giving, you’ll win the crowd. If you don’t want to turn off your visitors then you need to make sure you are offering content that is up to date, fresh and unique. The larger the amount of top notch quality that you provide, the more trust your visitors will place in you.

Affiliate Program: Selecting the correct affiliate program to market is vital and there are many factors that need to be considered when you make your decision. Such an element is the expected growth of the product in question. You need to always opt for the products that show a growth pattern in the market. The best choice would be a new product that is rising in popularity. Research the market effectively and avoid any products that look like they’re going down. You only want to promote the best in order to have the highest returns. But if you find some products that are old but have consistent reputation, it’s safe to go with them.

Targeted Traffic: Another affiliate suggestion you need to focus on is sending sufficient targeted traffic to your offers. The only way to make any sales is by driving targeted leads to your site. Search engine optimization is the best way to guide targeted guests to your site. Organic traffic that comes from search engines usually has a much higher conversion rate when it comes to affiliate products. You can focus on product keywords or longer tail keywords from your market to speed up the ranking process. Many affiliates rely solely on search engines to send them quality traffic. If you aren’t certain what you are doing, affiliate marketing can become quite tough. Therefore you need to keep the previously mentioned tips in mind when conducting your affiliate business. You should always opt for products that offer a high commission and a good conversion ratio. To receive credit for all the sales you make, you must make sure the company has a good affiliate tracking program.

  • PPC Match Types

Posted on July 26th, 2010 janakmehta View Comments

In your paid search or pay per click campaigns, there is little that is more important than your keyword selections. Keywords are the driving force behind your PPC advertising; no matter what other tactics you employ to optimize your paid search program, if the keywords are not properly representing your product or service, your program will ultimately fail.

The process of choosing and grouping the appropriate keywords for your pay per click advertising program cannot be summarized into a single article. It is a detailed, experience and research-driven skill that takes time to develop: time dedicated both to hands-on application and knowledge-gathering, sharing between industry professionals. That said, there are several fundamental aspects of selecting the appropriate keywords for your PPC ad program that need to be understood before moving deeper into the process.

One of the most important distinctions for pay per click managers to fully understand is the differences between the three common keyword match types: broad, phrase, and exact.

    Broad Match

Unquestionably, the most commonly-used keyword match type by PPC analysts using internet marketing tools across each of the major paid search engines is broad match. Broad match is the default match type selection in most of the search engine platforms, which also makes it more possible for inexperienced or rushed pay per click analysts to neglect to switch to Phrase or Exact match for keywords, even when more appropriate.

Broad matched keywords enable an ad to show for common variations keywords you have chosen, as well as keywords & keyword phrases that are similar in spelling and user-intent. For example, if you have chosen to include the keyword ‘doctor’ as a broad match term in your paid search account, your ad may show for search queries on ‘doctors’, ‘find a doctor’, ‘local doctor’, and of course, ‘doctor’. Your ad may not show for these variations, however, depending on competitors’ use of more closely-matching keywords within their accounts, and additional factors.

    Phrase Match

Selecting Phrase match for your keywords offers more control than broad match over user intent regarding whether or not to display your PPC ad for a particular query. Phrase match keywords are visually represented in your advertising campaigns with quotation marks surrounding the keyword or keyword phrase. In essence, by incorporating phrase match keywords in your program, you are allowing your ad to show alongside search results for phrases that include your keyword in the exact order you set.

Building off the previous example, if you were to include the Phrase match keyword ‘medical doctors’ in your PPC campaign, your ad may show for the search queries ‘find medical doctors’, ‘local medical doctors’, and ‘Chicago medical doctors’; but, would not show for ‘medical doctor’, ‘medically trained doctors’, or ‘medical licensed doctor’.

    Exact Match

Exact match keywords and keyword phrases are represented in PPC campaigns as being surrounded by square brackets ( ). These keyword selections are utilized to capture specific user intent and only show ads for search queries that exactly match the ones you have included. While narrowing the scope of user intent, Exact match keywords also limit the potential impressions your ad will receive dramatically, which depending on your advertising goals, may be a positive or negative result.

Using ‘medical doctors’ once again, if you were to select this phrase for Exact match only, your ad would only show along with search queries for ‘medical doctors’- your ad would not show for searches on ‘medical doctor’, ‘Chicago medical doctors’, ‘find medical doctors’, or ‘local medical doctors’.

The Right Match Type To Use

In the end, selecting the most appropriate match type for your paid search campaign is entirely dependent on your advertising goals. Broad match will garner the most impressions for your ads, but will also likely cause them to show for unintended internet marketing tools search results. Exact match is excellent for limiting the scope of user intent, but will also greatly diminish the overall impressions your ad will serve, thereby effectively reducing your target audience. Phrase match is nice to utilize in situations where keyword phrases are incorporated in your PPC campaign, but is mostly a non-factor for single-word keyword selections.

It is best to know the differentiation between the various match types before choosing any keywords to be representative of your paid search advertising program. More often than not, testing each of the match types using internet marketing tools in the early stages of your pay per click campaign will be the most qualified method of determining which match type aligns best with your goals.

  • Web Development – Get Deep Insights About Your Customers to Precisely Target Products and Services?

Posted on July 2nd, 2010 janakmehta View Comments

No business can be successful without a deep understanding of its customers. This knowledge can help you to adapt your business style and advertising techniques to attract more customers and expand your client base.

Though face-to-face interactions are most suitable for understanding customer requirements and behaviors, web entrepreneurs do not have this luxury. Therefore, you must know your customers through indirect methods. Here are some of the methods you can use.

    Tracking your Website Traffic

Traffic reports can serve as an excellent first step in understanding your customers. Ask your web hosting company about the free reports they offer on website traffic. Analyze these reports to determine key trends in traffic and visitor information. Once you have familiarized yourself with report information, use it to track your traffic and modify your website in accordance with customer’s requirements and trends. For instance, if you notice that you have many visitors from China, you can add features on web pages that attract attention of Chinese people and ensure that they keep coming back to your site. Tracking will also help you to assess the impact of specific advertising and promotion campaigns on customers and if they have been profitable for your business.

Some web hosting companies, however, do not provide any traffic reports. In this situation, you can look into your log files directly. Go to your web hosting service and look for a directory named “Logs”. Within the directory, download the most recent file to analyze the location of visitors, the pages viewed, the duration for which each page is viewed and the links attracting the most traffic. E-commerce websites can also recover information on sold products and where, in the ordering process, do customers bail out. Most text editors can open the file containing this information.

Collect E-mail Addresses and Stay in Touch

Give your visitors incentive for registering with your website by offering them free a newsletter subscription, an e-book or articles. Websites selling services can get customers to register by offering short free consultation. These methods let you collect the emails while the visitors get a glimpse of the good stuff you have to offer.

After you have obtained the email addresses and the permission to send mails to your customers, you can use the addresses to contact potential customers, and keep in touch by sending them discount coupons and special offers, information about sales, newsletters, articles and catalogs.

    Getting Feedback from Customers

There is no better way of getting to know your customers than asking them directly about their requirements and expectations. Use your website to develop customer databases, and build user profiles and mailing lists. Give your customers an option of joining your mailing list on the homepage of your business website. However, when seeking feedback directly from your customers you should always make it a point to respond to their messages or you risk alienating them. Analyze customer responses and requests to determine common problems and then aim to develop solutions to them. If you show genuine concern about their problems and needs, they will reciprocate by being loyal to your business and brand.

A deep knowledge of your customers helps you to precisely target your products and services and attract customer attention and interest. This in turn, helps you to increase your business profitability and significantly expand your customer base. If you want your web business to be successful and your website to be effective start getting to know your customers today.
